Over the past week, Simian International was proud to play an active role in advancing safety excellence across the Middle East, sponsoring and participating in two major Working at Height, Risk Management Seminars held in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Both events brought together safety professionals, training experts, and industry leaders to share insights, innovations, and best practices that continue to shape the future of the scaffolding and work at height community.
From engaging discussions to live demonstrations and VR experiences, the seminars highlighted a shared commitment to improving safety, competence, and collaboration across every level of the industry.
During his visit, Mr. Clive met with participants from our ongoing CISRS Level 1 and CISRS #Supervisor courses, interacting directly with trainees and instructors to experience Simian’s training delivery in action
As a token of appreciation, Mr. Sohail Mukhtar, General Manager of Simian International, presented a commemorative memento to honor Mr. Clive’s time and valuable contribution.
Strengthening Industry Connections
Alongside his visit to Simian International, Mr. Clive also visited SGB and NMDC, further strengthening international cooperation and dialogue with leading scaffolding and construction organizations in the UAE. These visits provided valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge and reinforce shared commitments to innovation and best practice.

HSE and Working at Height Seminar- Qatar
In Qatar, Mr. Wajahat Ali, Simian International’s Lead Instructor, took the stage as a speaker, delivering an engaging session on the “Secrets of Scaffold Inspection.” His presentation highlighted key inspection techniques, common challenges, and the importance of competence in ensuring safe scaffolding operations.
Working at Height: Risk Management Seminar – Abu Dhabi
In Abu Dhabi, Mr. Clive Dickin (CEO, NASC / CISRS) shared his international insights on scaffolding standards, while Mr. Ian Fyall CMIOSH FIIRSM CMAPS (Managing Director, Simian International) added depth to the discussion with his expertise on scaffold inspection excellence.
Innovation Through VR Technology
One of the most engaging highlights of both seminars was the opportunity for participants to experience Virtual Reality (VR) technology in scaffolding inspection and safety training. By NASC.
In Qatar, attendees actively explored this interactive learning tool, gaining first-hand experience of simulated scaffold inspections.
Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, students from the College of Health Sciences – Abu Dhabi University had the chance to experience the same VR technology during the event, expressing excitement and curiosity about how such innovations can enhance safety education and awareness in real world scenarios.
